Disaster Response Training For Churches

After the devastating weather events in our city and nation in 2023, we know too well how quickly disaster can strike.

Churches found themselves distributing food, helping flood survivors, arranging temporary accommodation and more.

What a challenging privilege to serve our neighbours practically in Jesus’ name. It’s so important to make sure we are prepared to do this when the time comes...

To that end, we’ve partnered with some expert organisations to provide a one-night, crash course disaster response training for churches.

This happened on August 1st, 2023, with more than 100 church leaders from across New Zealand meeting to hear from World Vision, ADRA, Christian Blind Mission & Convoy of Hope (AUS).

These organisations shared important concepts like preparing for disasters, partnering with others, disability inclusion, active response, caring for the carers, and the long haul of rebuilding in the aftermath.

After their presentations, there was a short time for Questions and Responses, followed by supper. If you missed it, the video recording is above.

ACN is extremely grateful to all volunteers, the venue, the partnering organisations and all who attended on the night.

With special thanks to:

  • Caz Bamford and Joel A'Bell from Convoy of Hope Australia

  • Sally Lavea from ADRA

  • Andy Robinson from World Vision

  • Karen Jack from CBM

  • Leao Tildsley from Saves9 & Ranui Baptist

  • C3 Ellerslie for hosting
